venezia, la serenissima -
by far my favourite place in the world. i love vienna, monte carlo and nice but they are no match for this fantastic city of the sea.
after i haven’t been on a decent vacation for almost two years i was really excited to go to venice again and didn’t even mind the uncomfortable 12 hour train ride.
“this air… it can heal wounds” i theatrically said to my lovely companion who visited venice for the first time. and indeed, the sea breeze made it easy to forget the strain of the sleepless night we spent on the train.
being all fidgety we hurried through the train station as i couldn’t wait to finally see the canale grande again. and there it was, right in front of the train station, glistering in the sunlight.
this was the beginning of a wonderful stay in venice. i’ve been to all my favourite places; the piazza san marco, the rialto bridge, the ospedale ss. giovanni e paolo and many others and soaked up their beauty.
it was the most intense stay at venice i’ve had so far and i was, in fact, really sad on the last day but i’m sure i will go back very soon.
now i’d like to share some of the beauty of this city with you which is why i’m going to post some pictures.
