il leone di san marco
the st mark’s lion stands on one of two columns at the piazetta, which is my favourite place in venice. the other column is dedicated to san todaro and therefore holds a his statue. legend has it that it means bad luck if you stand between those columns because right in this place one of the doges was executed.
