our streetcars are adorned with the rainbow flag. so it’s that time of the year again…
vienna gay pride.
to me, it’s really fascinating what people are proud of. what’s even more intriguing is, that some people seem to dedicate their whole life to being gay. maybe it is the fact that it’s exam-time, which always makes me a little oversensitive to annoying things, but in my opinion this whole gay pride thing is completely unnecessary.
you want to be treated like everybody else? fine, then please behave appropriately and don’t disgust the world around you with all the gory details of stuff that really belongs in your bedroom. i understand that demonstrations for public acceptance once were necessary and in some areas still are. but somehow, some people seem to feel like they have to carry the whole thing to excess. being gay is super fun, i know but just like being heterosexual, it is a private thing.
i just don’t understand why on earth there have to be gay libraries, gay travel agencies and all the “gay friendly” stuff like gay friendly cinemas or furniture shops. seriously? a gay friendly furniture shop? a café in vienna took it to the next level and even made up a new word: “antiheteronormativ”(sic!).
you know what this is? discrimination. it pisses me off that there are so many gay people (interestingly those who are part of the equal rights parade year after year) are so consumed with their flaming gayness that, on the one hand they are trying to gain equal rights and on the other hand try to push heterosexuals out of gay universe. there is, for example, an infamous beach in vienna, which inofficially is dominated by gay men and according to them no women are allowed.
i think it might be fun to gather all my female friends and boobbomb that heterophobic  beach some time this summer. who’s with me?
